We are looking for a waste team member to undertake a range of waste facility operations this includes working with customers, collecting fees and record keeping and also performing transfer and management of waste within the facility.


In this position you will be responsible for:

  • Greet customers, inspect waste and quantify fee, collect monies and issue payment receipts
  • Operate large and small plant and equipment including front end loaders, mowers and trimmers.
  • Remove contaminants from garden waste, scrap metal, timber piles, and other materials in preparation for recycling or reprocessing.
  • Assist in undertaking construction and maintenance activities on waste facilities
  • Reconcile cash account and EFTPOS transactions each day.
  • Complete site checklists, maintain site inventories and levels.

  • Experience in a similar position is highly desirable
  • Experience in the operation of landfill plant or similar earthmoving equipment
  • Customer service orientated with experience in cash handling
  • Good attention to detail with the ability to prioritise tasks
  • Ability to work across locations including: Bemboka, Bermagui, Merimbula, Eden, Candelo, Cobargo, Wallagoot and Central Waste Facility(Frogs Hollow)

This is a permanent part time position working 34 hours per week. Remuneration is $1085.30 per week (paid pro rata) plus additional allowances (adverse working conditions) as per the Local Government (State) Award 2017, plus 9.5 % employer superannuation contribution.

Selection Criteria Essential: Work in a manner consistent with BVSC organisational values and associated behaviours.
Essential: Demonstrated experience in the operation of landfill plant or similar earthmoving equipment.
Essential: Demonstrated oral communications skills in a customer-oriented work environment.
Essential: Experience with cash handling procedures.
Essential: Two (2) years’ experience in a similar role (indicative).
Essential: Additional skills, knowledge and qualifications that may be applicable to this position, such as other specialist training or work experience.
Essential: Current Class C (Car) Drivers Licence.
