We are seeking suitable applicants for various casual roles in our Aquatic Facilities team for the upcoming summer swimming pool season. To be successful in these roles, you will need to have:

  • Well-developed interpersonal skills with the ability to build relationships with a wide range of customers, ages, abilities and user groups.
  • Personal qualities which enable you to work effectively in a team or independently as required.
  • Promote public safety, a positive Council image and contribute to the safe and effective operation of Council managed aquatic facilities across the Shire.

Through this process, you will be able to apply for and be considered for the following roles, depending on your skills, experience and qualifications.

  • PD801 Lifeguard/ Pool Attendant: Actively supervise swimming pools, perform lifeguard duties, provide first aid and emergency response, complete routine cleaning and operational procedures, undertake cash and EFTPOS transactions for pool entry, memberships, stock and merchandise and complete organisational documentation. 
  • PD 807 Learn to Swim Instructor: Safely and positively instruct aquatic programs within our established program and industry guidelines, structure lessons and determine client needs in consultation with program supervisor, prepare/set up and disassemble program equipment, complete organisational documentation and liaise regularly with program supervisor.

Overall, your ability to provide a safe and effective service to customers and present a positive image of Council will be highly valued. (Please see each position description for full list of duties). These are casual positions working variable hours dependant on the operational requirements of the aquatic facilities. Remuneration is $30.40 per hour (inclusive of 25% casual loading) and as per the Local Government (State) Award 2017, plus 9.5% employer superannuation contribution.

This is an open recruitment process designed to meet the seasonal and operational needs of the aquatic facilities. For this reason, there is no closing date set for the advertising period. We will endeavour to assess each application within 14 days of submission and notify applicants with an outcome. Where position vacancies are filled and there is no longer an operational need for a specific role, applications will remain on file and be re-assessed as a vacancy or operational need arises.
