Bega Valley Shire Council is seeking an Early Childhood Educator to provide early childhood education services including the design, documentation and implementation of programs for children and families.


In this position, you will be responsible for:

  • Supporting and educating all children within a service.
  • Practising of critical reflection of practice techniques and programs.
  • Contributing to effective and open communication with families about children’s programs, learning outcomes, health, well-being, safety and nutrition.
  • Documenting and reporting all concerns, complaints and significant issues that affect the operations of the service, the staff or families and children.



We are seeking an enthusiastic individual who holds a current Certificate III in Children’s Services (or equivalent recognised qualification). You will be familiar with the Early Years Learning Framework and operate in a way that meets the National Quality Standards for educational practice.


In addition, you will have the following skills, knowledge and attributes:

  • Sound skills in building respectful and equitable relationships with children, families, teams and others in the community.
  • Demonstrated ability to apply an innovative approach to current early childhood programs and practice.
  • NSW Working with Children Check
  • First Aid Certificate, Anaphylaxis and Asthma Management training.

This is a permanent, full time position working 38 hours per week. Remuneration is $924.20 per week as per the Local Government (State) Award 2017, plus 9.5 % employer superannuation contribution.


An ‘Order of Merit’ will be created from this recruitment process and may be used to fill multiple other fixed-term contract and casual positions.

Selection Criteria Essential: Work in a manner consistent with BVSC organisational values and associated behaviours.
Essential: Demonstrated knowledge of the Early Years Learning Framework and National Quality Standards, and the ability to apply them in the work setting.
Essential: Demonstrated ability to build and maintain respectful relationships with children, families, team members and broader community members.
Essential: Minimum of Certificate III in Children's Services (or other equivalent recognised qualification), or evidence of enrolment and actively working towards such qualifications.
