In taking on this role you will assist with procurement and delivery of capital projects for Council’s assets at all points of the project cycle from detailed planning to delivery and commissioning, including representing BVSC in the management of consultants and contractors.


With a wide range of projects to deliver for our local community you will have the opportunity to take on new challenges and varied projects. Council’s current and upcoming projects include water and sewer treatment upgrades, CBD & streetscape revitalisations, bridge replacements, building upgrades, sports facility upgrades, and marine infrastructure improvements You’ll be part of a group of professional project managers with a range of skill sets that will be used delivering projects for the community. As Council’s representative you will be given a healthy budget along with responsibility to exercise judgement for approval of works or the need to seek advice from others.


In this position you will be responsible for:

  • Prepare briefs and tender documentation calling for preliminary design, concept design, detailed design, or construction services.
  • Understand and communicate required scope of projects and necessary tasks and activities to deliver projects.
  • Manage and administer the contract with the contractor or consultant.
  • Check design plans and reports prepared for specific projects.
  • Seek further input from internal and external stakeholders on an as-needed basis.
  • Liaise with internal QA representatives to audit and inspect construction works at all significant stages.



We are seeking an experienced project professional that has a background in a consulting or client-side project management role. You will be able to engage and influence stakeholders at all levels while maintaining a structured and professional approach to work practice.


You will have the following qualification and skills to be considered for this position:

  • Bachelor degree in an engineering or project/construction management discipline appropriate to the position.
  • Experience delivering works across the project cycle (eg. Tasks required for a safe and compliant concept design in NSW).
  • Sound understanding of contract management principles including risk management, WHS and EEO.
  • Ability to manage relationships with contractors and professional consultants in order to achieve results.

From this recruitment, there will be mulitple positions filled including permanent and fixed term (2 year) positions. There is also potential for part-time or job-share arrangements depending on individual circumstances. Remuneration is $1714.40 per week as per the Local Government (State) Award 2017, plus 9.5% employer superannuation. Furthermore, this position is eligible for 3.5% Civil Liability Allowance and a Leaseback Vehicle.

Essential: Sound understanding of contract management principals including risk management, WHS and EEO.
Essential: Ability to manage relationships with contractors and professional consultants in order to achieve results.
Essential: Well-developed skills in the interpretation of detailed engineering plans, specifications and quality systems.
Essential: High level written and verbal communication skills. Demonstrated ability in the use of Microsoft Office software, MS Project, project planning software and spatial information software.
Essential: Additional skills, knowledge and qualifications that may be applicable to this position, such as experience in planning, design and construction of water supply and sewerage infrastructure, experience in capital works provision, experience in asset management systems, other specialist training/quali
